Growth strategy

Where to grow next, and a business set up to get there.

A growth strategy answers three questions: where your next growth comes from, what it takes to get there, and what you will stop doing. It's for owners who want the business to grow without everything depending on them, whether the aim is the next stage or a sale or handover in a few years.

How it works

  • We assess markets, customers, offer and organisation.
  • We agree a small number of priorities, each with an owner, milestones and measures.
  • If it helps, I stay involved in a lighter advisory role while the plan is implemented.

What you get: a strategy short enough to steer by, and a business that is easier to grow, hand over or sell.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does a growth strategy include?

A clear answer to three questions: where your next growth comes from, what it takes to get there, and what you will stop doing. That means assessing markets, customers, offer and organisation, then agreeing a small number of priorities with owners, milestones and measures. The result is short enough to steer by.

Our business depends heavily on me as owner. Can you help?

Yes — this is one of the most common starting points. A business that relies on its owner for sales, decisions or key relationships struggles to grow and is harder to hand over or sell. I help you build the structures, people and routines that let the business run and grow with less of your daily involvement.

We are thinking about selling or handing over in a few years. Is that growth strategy too?

Yes. Preparing for a sale or succession is a growth question: buyers and successors pay for a business that grows without depending on one person. I help you get ready over several years — clearer numbers, a stronger market position, a team that carries the business — so you can choose your moment rather than being forced into it.

How long does a growth strategy project take?

The assessment and strategy usually take [6–10 weeks], depending on the size of the business and how quickly information is available. Many clients then keep me on in a lighter advisory role while the plan is implemented, typically with [monthly] check-ins.
